About 45–60 minutes north to the secluded resorts beyond Macao. A private transfer is the simplest way up a coast with no airport bus.
Check prices & book →Uvero Alto lies about 40 km north of Punta Cana airport, a drive of roughly 45 minutes to an hour along the Boulevard Turístico del Este. It's one of the furthest resort clusters on this coast — past Bávaro and Macao — which is exactly why it feels so much quieter once you arrive.
The road is paved the whole way and the run is easy, but it's long enough that you'll appreciate an air-conditioned car with your luggage in the back rather than a shared van stopping at half a dozen other resorts first.
Distance: ~40 km | Journey time: ~45–60 min | Private from: $48 total | Airport: Punta Cana International (PUJ)
Uvero Alto trades the buzz of central Bávaro for wide, wilder beaches and a more secluded feel. The resorts here tend to be adults-focused or premium all-inclusives, including Excellence Punta Cana, Excellence El Carmen, Dreams Macao Beach, Breathless Punta Cana, Live Aqua Beach Resort and Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana.
That seclusion is the draw — but it also means there's no public transport and nowhere nearby to grab a last-minute taxi. Arranging your transfer before you fly is the sensible move.
Several Uvero Alto resorts share access roads and similar branding (the Excellence and Dreams properties, for instance). Enter the full resort name from your reservation so your driver delivers you to the right entrance after the longer drive north.
On a 45–60 minute trip, the difference between a private transfer and an included shared shuttle is significant. A shared van waits to fill, then works its way north stopping at multiple resorts — your hour can easily become two. A private transfer leaves when you land and drives straight to your hotel.
For couples and families heading this far up the coast, the comfort and the time saved usually justify the modest fare over piecing together a cheaper option that doesn't really exist here anyway.
1–3 passengers, standard luggage. Comfortable for the hour-long run north.
1–4 passengers. More room to stretch out and store bags — a good family pick.
5–8 passengers. The comfortable choice for groups heading to the same resort.

After immigration and baggage at PUJ's open-air terminal, walk out into arrivals and look for your driver holding a sign with your name. Don't engage with anyone offering rides as you exit — your booked driver will be waiting. If you can't find them, call the number on your booking confirmation first.
