Cap Cana is the gated luxury enclave — marina, golf and beach clubs — with resorts like Secrets Cap Cana, Sanctuary Cap Cana, TRS Cap Cana, Hyatt Zilara & Ziva Cap Cana, Margaritaville Island Reserve and Eden Roc. Its showpiece is Juanillo Beach.
Punta Cana Resort & Club, right by the airport, is the original development — home to Tortuga Bay, The Westin Puntacana and Playa Blanca. Both are quick, easy runs from PUJ.
Cap Cana has a security checkpoint at the entrance. Drivers pass through it all the time, but give your exact resort name at booking so security can confirm your reservation and wave the car through to the right lobby.
For such a short trip, the airport taxi desk and a pre-booked transfer cost about the same — but the private transfer locks your price in advance, skips the cash-at-the-desk step, and has your driver waiting with your name as you walk out. Inside gated Cap Cana especially, a driver who knows the checkpoint and the resort layout makes the arrival seamless.
