Check prices & book →Miches sits about 60 km north and west of Punta Cana airport, around the curve of the coast toward the Bahía de Samaná. The drive takes roughly an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. It used to be a slow, bumpy trek; an upgraded road has changed that, and the run is now a smooth, scenic one with the green Cordillera Oriental rising on your left.
It's a genuinely beautiful transfer — but it's also a remote one, with no public transport and few taxis at the far end. Booking your ride before you fly is the only sensible way to do it.

Miches is the country's up-and-coming high-end destination — wild, uncrowded and dramatically pretty. The two flagship resorts are Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda and Viva Miches by Wyndham, strung along quiet Playa Esmeralda. Nearby, the famous Montaña Redonda viewpoint and the lagoons of the Bahía de Samaná draw day-trippers.
Because the area is still developing, there's little infrastructure outside the resorts — which is part of the appeal, but also why your arrival needs to be arranged in advance.
Give your exact resort name (Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda or Viva Miches by Wyndham) and your flight number at booking. On a longer, more remote route, accurate details keep the meet-and-greet smooth.
For most Punta Cana routes a private transfer is the convenient choice; for Miches it's effectively the only practical one. There's no airport shuttle, no reliable taxi rank at the destination, and the resorts are isolated. A pre-booked private transfer puts a driver at arrivals with your name and drives you straight to Playa Esmeralda — no improvising at the airport, no scrambling for a ride in a town with few of them.

After immigration and baggage at PUJ's open-air terminal, head out into arrivals and look for your driver holding a sign with your name. Ignore anyone offering rides as you exit — your booked driver will be waiting. If you can't find them, call the number on your confirmation first, especially important before a longer drive.
